Traveling Through Europe Just Got Easier

Traveling Through Europe Just Got a LOT Easier – And You Will Thank Me for Explaining
I travel to Europe as often as I can. The wonderful part of visiting Europe is that so many countries are in close proximity, and I have an opportunity to explore several of them in one visit (especially after purchasing and experiencing a very long flight for my anxiously-awaited trip). My options for transportation vary; depending on whether I am exploring one town, a major city, or traversing from city to city in one country or crossing borders of numerous countries.
The purpose of this journal is to share a wonderful way I have discovered to travel from country to country throughout Europe. So let me explain…
I am no longer at a stage in my life where I would travel with just a backpack…that means I have luggage. Let’s face it, with luggage, my options are planes, trains, automobiles and buses.
Here is what I have discovered! Day Trip. Yes. Day Trip. And here is why…
I don’t want to schlepp my luggage up and down stairs and escalators.
I want to see and experience the countryside as I am traversing from Point A to Point B.
I want all of my travel companions to be able to do the same.
I want to stop and take photos whenever I want.
I cherish spontaneous stops where you can enjoy the food and the culture.
I want to relax en route with a bottle of wine and WIFI, if needed.
I want to avoid crowds, long lines and the hassle of customs.
And, I want it all at a reasonable cost. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
Well, now it isn’t, thanks to a wonderful service called Day Trip. You feel like royalty without depleting your savings. Here is how they work:
Before your trip, you go online to www.mydaytrip.com and select your beginning point and destination, along with the time you want to depart.
They provide you immediately with a price quote and time of arrival at your destination.
But, there’s more! They inform you of other sights along the way which might be worthy of your time (try doing that on a train or plane!). They inform you of the additional fee and how that effects your destination arrival time. Once you confirm, you are set to go. It is that easy.
On the day of your transfer, a chauffeur/translator/guide picks you up at your hotel lobby and packs your luggage in a pristinely-clean and upscale vehicle. Just you and your travel party are then accommodated with free WIFI and an opportunity to sit back and relax through the countryside. Want to open a bottle of wine or sip on the local beer while cruising along? No problem.
Your driver will insist that you let him/her know when you want to stop, whether for photos, food, inspecting a bathroom or stretching your legs.
Your driver will even make recommendations for great places to eat. (In Slovenia, Isador introduced us to the BEST mushroom soup we have ever had…we still talk about it and the charming restaurant where we were treated with amazing graciousness and courtesy.)
Did you schedule some stops along the way? Your driver/guide/interpreter will give you some background information for this special stop.
Eventually, you arrive at your destination feeling relaxed, sated and content; AND, your luggage is transported from the vehicle for you.
Rent a car? NO -- You still have to haul your own luggage, find your way, know the law and customs, your designated driver does not get to relax and enjoy, and you are encumbered by all the other entrapments of renting a car that you have already experienced.
Take the train? NO – Go ahead, schlepp your luggage up and down the stairs, go through customs and watch the world go by without a chance for photos, or exploring. (I say this even though I really do love taking the train, but it certainly isn’t as relaxing or private.)
Hop on a plane? NO – The prices throughout Europe have skyrocketed…not to mention luggage, customs, etc. etc. etc.
TRUST ME ON THIS…if you want to get around Europe, you can’t beat this service. It may be slightly more expensive than the train; but, probably not when you consider that you may be utilizing a cab to and from stations. I use Day Trip every chance I get. I even turned my travel agent on to Day Trip, and her other clients are raving about this service.
So, it’s up to you…Relax and enjoy your time or go through the absolute hassle of using public transportation systems.
Happy Travels!
[I have no affiliation with Day Trip, whatsoever, other than I love their service…which I will be enjoying in 3 months.]
